Hey everyone! I just merged my latest open-source pull request to Apache Camel, and I’m honestly thrilled. My PR, titled "Filter search to camel-core docs only", addresses a small but annoying UX issue on the official documentation site. Previously, searching for a core component would pull up overwhelming results from every single sub-project. My changes updated the search integration so users can narrow their query specifically to camel-core docs.

The code review process was surprisingly welcoming for a student contributor like me. One of the core maintainers reviewed my PR and really liked the approach, but he kindly pointed out that I missed a edge-case fallback for when no filter is selected. We had a friendly back-and-forth where he suggested a cleaner syntax using modern JavaScript optional chaining to handle the null checks. I pushed the update later that afternoon, and he merged it with a nice "Great work, thanks!" comment.

Through this issue, I learned how to navigate a massive, enterprise-level repository and gained hands-on experience with documentation site search engines. Most importantly, I realized that contributing to Apache isn't as intimidating as it seems—the community actually wants to help you succeed. If you're a student on the fence about making your first big PR, just take the leap!
