I just merged my latest pull request for the ControlCore-Project, and I'm super hyped about it! My PR, titled "fix: replace concore2 imports with concore (resolves #287)", was a fix that cleared up a major headache for the community. The project recently updated its core package, but several modules were still trying to import from the legacy concore2 namespace, causing sneaky runtime errors. I went through the codebase and updated all remaining references to the unified concore import.
The code review process was a great experience. One of the lead maintainers, @dev_maya, left a super friendly comment thanking me for catching the issue. She pointed out one edge case: "Thanks for this cleanup! Could you also double-check the integration test mocks to ensure no leftover concore2 references remain there?" I pushed a quick commit to fix those up, and she hit me with an approval and a "LGTM! 🚀"
This small contribution taught me a lot about software maintenance and deprecation cycles. It’s easy to focus on building flashy new features, but keeping dependencies clean and maintaining developer environment stability is just as vital. Plus, working through code reviews with welcoming maintainers really boosted my confidence as a student jumping into open source. On to the next issue!
